RIBZ – a Great Pack for Tenkara
Posted by Jason Klass on Nov 23, 2012 in Packs & Vests | 6 comments
The RIBZ front pack is a very versatile pack for backpacking, hiking, skiing, and pretty much any outdoor pursuit. I think it also makes a great pack for tenkara when you don’t need a full vest, but need to carry a little more than will fit in a chest pack.
About Jason Klass
Jason is an avid fly angler and backpacker. As a former fly fishing guide originally from Western New York, he moved to Colorado and became an early adopter of tenkara which perfectly suited the small, high altitude streams and lakes there. He has not fished a Western-style fly rod for trout since.

This pack looks pretty darn good for Tenkara, hiking, and it may just replace that classy fanny pack gramps still wears to the mall! May have to pick one up for myself.
jason, great looking small pack.where are these available from?i`m currently using a butt pack that doesn`t have the shoulder straps.this one looks a lot better.
Hi Dave, they’re available here: http://www.ribzwear.com/
I looked at the manufacturers website and they have 2 different sizes of RIBZ pack, a 500 cu in. and a 700 cu in. Do you have a size preference? What size is shown in your video? Thanks.
Hi Charles, it really depends on how much you need to carry. I have both and will use the bigger one if I am hiking far from the car and need to bring lunch or a rain jacket. The nice thing about the bigger one is that even if you don’t fill it up, it remains compact and doesn’t feel bulky so you might consider the 700.
Thanks!
