Brian Lindsay on Kebari Fly Design

July 3, 20174 CommentsInterviewsBy Jason Klass

This 4th of July Weekend, I had the pleasure of having a guest at my house who is a tour de force in tenkara–Brian Lindsay. Brian is an avid tenkara fisher and tyer with a unique perspective on fly design. Here’s a quick video about his philosophy on tying that I think you’ll enjoy and here’s a pic of one of his signature flies …

About the author

Jason Klass

Jason is an avid fly angler and backpacker. As a former fly fishing guide originally from Western New York, he moved to Colorado and became an early adopter of tenkara which perfectly suited the small, high altitude streams and lakes there. He has not fished a Western-style fly rod for trout since.

This is a fine interview, Jason. Thanks for sharing. I like the idea of an ant-shaped body and plan to play with that a bit. Bug-Body Kebari. I like it. ~Paul

Great job Jason and Brian. Can you explain to me what the term “western” fly fishing has to do with fly fishing. I am originally from New Jersey (don’t feel sorry for me!!) but I thought fly fishing is fly fishing with a rod, reel and line. Sorry my pet peeve!! Have a great 4th! Pease!!!
